Custom navigation software (C-NAV), Satellite Navigation (GPS), and Medium Frequency Radio Communications (Micronet) combine to provide Cochrane's Differential Global Positioning Systems (DGPS) with superior accuracy and dependability.
Additionally, WAAS and US Coast Guard Differential data are incorporated for system redundancy. Cochrane's proprietary software, C-NAV, provides numerous features not found in other navigation packages.
Our latest version, WinCNAV II, is one of the most comprehensive real-time surveying, navigation/positioning, and data recording applications ever developed. Improvements include 'in the field' device drivers, BargeTrac for laying of pipelines through a curve, interfaced for Pipeline Touchdown Indicator and real-time electronic pipeline tally counter, multiple viewports, remote display capabilities, custom data screens that roll-up minimizing on-screen clutter, and C-ALL navigation for multiple vessels working in close proximity.
Cochrane operates and maintains permanent Micronet reference stations providing complete coverage for the Northern Gulf Of Mexico. Additionally, we have portable DGPS base stations and mobile receivers for immediate worldwide deployment and comprehensive redundancy. Micronet Differential GPS Data Link is a terrestrial MF data link that may be used with DGPS references providing RTCM SC-104 or custom format corrections. The sophisticated forward error correction encoding techniques employed by this system combine to offer a data link with a typical operating range of up to 500 kilometers. Micronet is less susceptible to signal fading, multi-path errors, and spurious noise than bit stream terrestrial links operating at the same frequency. Unlike Inmarsat satellite data links that require installation of a satellite communications terminal on the vessel, the Micronet mobile receiver is unencumbered by any external communication devices.
Backup systems are an integral part of all equipment packages. Our staff of electronics technicians, equipped with a complete electronics laboratory, test all equipment packages before they are mobilized on a job. In addition, each field crewmember is equipped with cellular and paging devices to maintain communications with the Project Manager.
Our Navigation and Positioning services range from Dive Boat Navigation and Pipeline As-Built surveys, Site Clearance Survey by Trawling, to Rig and Barge Positioning, each supported by specific project managers to ensure quality control and adherence to documented procedures.
